Context & challenges

Wheatstone is one of Australia’s most significant gas projects, developing offshore fields around 200 km off Onslow. The onshore terminal includes two liquefaction trains with a total capacity of 8.9 Mt/y. Entrepose Contracting, with VINCI Construction Grands Projets and THIESS, designed and built two 150,000 m³ LNG tanks and two 120,000 m³ condensate tanks—demonstrating delivery of complex assets in demanding technical and climatic conditions.

Technical challenges & responses

  • Coastal desert environment: high temperatures, tropical cyclones, remote site; adapted methods and rigorous planning.
  • Technical complexity: simultaneous delivery of LNG and condensate tanks; integration within a vast industrial complex with multi-contractor coordination.
  • HSE excellence: compliance with strict safety standards, with recognition by Bechtel and Chevron; multiple safety awards.
