From Chemistry to Project Management at Entrepose Contracting

I hold a PhD in Chemistry and chose engineering rather than research. After starting out as a process engineer in a design office, I joined Entrepose Contracting, where I progressively moved from process engineering into engineering management, and then project management.

After gaining experience as a Project Engineering Manager and in tender management, I reached a new milestone in January by becoming a Project Manager — the first woman to hold this position within VCGP.

Today, I am the Project Director for the Cartagena LPG project.

Website testimonial – Materials, welding and quality control manager

Testimonial

Being responsible for materials, welding and quality control means ensuring the technical reliability of structures, from the initial sketch to final acceptance.

I am involved in the entire project cycle: defining specifications, validating welding processes, organising non-destructive testing, managing corrosion protection and supervising quality. I work with engineering, procurement, Entrepose Industries and the construction site to balance constructability, safety and performance

My advice to those joining us: stay curious, dare to go international and know how to say no when safety and quality are not up to standard

Construction and Site Roles

Turning engineering into real assets, delivered safely, compliantly and on schedule

Julien POUMAER

Technicien méthode en logistique chantier

Testimonial

“Working as a Methods Technician responsible for site logistics at Entrepose Contracting means being at the heart of the interface between head office, procurement, logistics, quality and site teams. My role is to make sure that equipment arrives on site in the right condition, is compliant, properly documented and available when the teams need it.

In practical terms, when equipment arrives on site, we need to check its condition, identify any missing items or damage, review material certificates, ensure that the documentation meets project requirements and record every item. This follow-up may appear administrative, but it is essential: without traceability, it is impossible to know precisely where a component comes from, what it is intended for or under what conditions it has been used.

On an international construction site, missing or non-compliant equipment, or an issue with documentation, can quickly affect the schedule. A component that fails to arrive, a crane that cannot be mobilised or equipment held up in customs are all situations that need to be anticipated and dealt with quickly. Site logistics therefore requires a great deal of coordination, responsiveness and a strong on-site presence.

My experience in Dunkirk, on Yamal and on LNG Canada has taught me that every project has its own organisation, constraints and culture. You need to be able to adapt to local teams, working conditions, climate, national regulations and client requirements. The human factor is crucial: saying hello, listening, showing respect and building trust all matter just as much as technical expertise when it comes to moving a project forward.

This role has given me a very practical understanding of projects. When you see the impact that a missing item or a change in sequence can have on construction activities, you gain a much clearer understanding of scheduling, coordination and project control challenges. That is also what encouraged me to develop further in these areas.

To succeed in this type of role, you need rigour, curiosity, strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and a willingness to keep learning. My advice to any young person looking to enter the profession would be: get out on site, embrace international opportunities, surround yourself with the right people and never stop learning. The field is one of the best schools there is.”

Site Manager, 20 years of industrial construction sites

Testimonial

I am a site manager at Entrepose Contracting. For over 20 years, I have been managing industrial construction projects internationally: Libya, Nigeria, Benin, Qatar, Tunisia, Russia, England…

My role?

To coordinate teams and subcontractors so that the project progresses safely, on time and within budget.

On the Isle of Grain LNG project in England, I spent three years on site managing the construction of the internal metal structure of a cryogenic tank, after eight months of preparation at headquarters to select and supervise the subcontractor.

Every day is punctuated by safety briefings, site visits and discussions with the client.

Any advice for aspiring site managers?

It is essential to enjoy working in the field, to ask questions, to listen to both your colleagues and the engineers, and to remain open to international opportunities. With a technical background and a desire to learn, you can progress to site management, then to construction management or project management, and one day pass on your knowledge to others.

Secure the project’s critical resources at the right time and to the required standard.

“At Entrepose Contracting, my role, together with my team, is to meet project needs across the entire procurement chain: purchasing, expediting, inspection, logistics, transport and subcontracting.”

My role is to secure the critical equipment, services and partners required for projects in demanding environments. To achieve this, we develop sourcing strategies tailored to each project, taking into account its location, the nature of the requirements, the supplier market and the available alternatives. Our objective is clear: to strike the right balance between cost, quality, schedule, safety and environmental performance.

This role requires rigour, strong negotiation skills, foresight and a solid understanding of project delivery. It also involves managing supplier risks, developing alternative solutions and working methodically in an international environment.

What motivates me is being at the heart of project performance, in a role that combines strategic, operational and cross-functional responsibilities.

Business Development and Proposal Roles

Identifying opportunities, shaping proposals and paving the way for future projects

Claire BARILLEAU

Estimation Engineer

Testimonial

Being an estimation engineer means turning a technical idea into a concrete, realistic project.

As a tender engineer, my job is to propose a competitive price in response to a tender. My role involves assessing the overall cost of an EPC project in the energy sector, drawing on expertise from engineering, procurement, construction and finance. Every bid is a team effort: we fine-tune the level of detail in the study, ensure the technical consistency of the data and validate the competitiveness of the price during the final review.

What I love is this big-picture view, where every discipline contributes to the final success. My job requires rigour, curiosity and team spirit

Commitment and mentoring
And beyond cost estimation, I love sharing this passion: helping young people, particularly young women through the Elles Bougent association, to discover that being an engineer is a career with a future, open to everyone. The Elles Bougent association aims to introduce young people, and more specifically young women, to technical careers. I visit schools, welcome pupils to construction sites, take part in student forums and promote diversity in engineering professions.

My belief: “You can love numbers, technology and working as a team. Engineering is, above all, a human adventure.”

Subsidiary Leadership Roles

Leading expert entities that drive industrial performance and project delivery

Eric GOZZOLI

Director of Entrepose Industries

Testimonial

Being Director of Entrepose Industries means turning industrial complexity into collective action. Every day, I lead and coordinate plant teams, clients, and partners around one objective: deliver safe projects that meet client expectations and are on time.

On site, proximity makes all the difference: talking with teams, spotting weak signals, anchoring the safety culture in every gesture. Safety remains our absolute priority. Economic indicators come next, because without safety, there is no sustainable performance.

My role is also to provide meaning: bring skills together, support capability building, and recognize everyone’s success. I encourage training, internal promotion, and transparent communication. Team commitment is the key to our performance.

To those who want to join us, I would say: love Industry. Stay curious. Never compromise on safety. At Entrepose, every project is a human and industrial adventure where rigor, trust, and solidarity make the difference.

Support functions shared with VINCI Construction Grands Projets

Leveraging the strength of a major group to help project teams stay focused on what matters most

Cyril Guignard

Director of International Financing

Testimonial

« As Director of International Financing, I work across the entire Major Projects division. I support operational departments, including Entrepose Contracting, in setting up financing, issuing guarantees and covering contract interruption risks, both during the tendering phase and during project execution.

My role is highly cross-functional. I work on a daily basis with project teams and bid managers, coordinating with banks, insurers, financial institutions in the broadest sense, as well as with our clients and partners. Each project is unique and tailor-made, in a variety of country contexts, which means there is no such thing as routine.

In spring 2025, our teams oversaw the completion of financing for the RIO COBRE project in Jamaica, a public-private partnership that is unprecedented in the Caribbean. With a total value of $90 million, this project is financed by Jamaican and international partners, including Proparco and the Inter-American Development Bank, and will be operated for 23 years by our local teams working for the National Water Commission, a long-standing client and partner.

In 2022, we closed £130 million in financing for National Grid, our client for the LNG Grain project in the UK. This is a concrete example of how finance contributes directly to the sustainable success of Entrepose Contracting’s projects within the major projects division.
