Context & challenges

Skikda is a major Sonatrach liquefaction complex, supplied with gas from the Hassi R’mel field. The extension project increased LNG and LPG storage and export capacity, strengthening Algeria’s position as a key Mediterranean and European gas supplier.

Technical challenges & responses

  • Diversity of assets: simultaneous design and construction of LNG and LPG tanks; full containment technology for all three tanks.
  • Complex industrial environment: integration within an existing operating complex.
  • Local context: mobilisation and training of the Algerian workforce.
