STOCKAGE CRYOGENIQUE, REFRIGERE OU CONVENTIONNEL : TROIS REGIMES A NE PAS CONFONDRE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>On parle de stockage conventionnel pour des fluides conserv\u00e9s \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante, \u00e0 pression atmosph\u00e9rique ou mod\u00e9r\u00e9e. Le stockage r\u00e9frig\u00e9r\u00e9 abaisse la temp\u00e9rature pour liqu\u00e9fier le produit, sans entrer dans le domaine cryog\u00e9nique. Le stockage cryog\u00e9nique, lui, op\u00e8re \u00e0 l&rsquo;extr\u00eame \u2014 de \u2212162 \u00b0C (GNL) \u00e0 \u2212253 \u00b0C (hydrog\u00e8ne liquide). \u00c0 ces niveaux, les aciers ordinaires deviennent fragiles, le moindre apport thermique provoque une \u00e9vaporation, et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du confinement devient l&rsquo;enjeu central de toute la conception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liqu\u00e9fier un gaz r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement son volume \u2014 de l&rsquo;ordre de 600 fois pour le gaz naturel \u2014 et le rend transportable et stockable. Mais cette densification a une contrepartie in\u00e9vitable : le boil-off gas (BOG). Quelle que soit la qualit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;isolation, un flux thermique r\u00e9siduel p\u00e9n\u00e8tre toujours dans le r\u00e9servoir et vaporise une fraction du liquide. Un r\u00e9servoir cryog\u00e9nique n&rsquo;est donc jamais inerte : c&rsquo;est un syst\u00e8me thermodynamique en r\u00e9gime permanent, dont il faut piloter la pression, la stratification et l&rsquo;\u00e9vaporation pendant toute la vie de l&rsquo;ouvrage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Concevoir un tel ouvrage, c&rsquo;est r\u00e9partir trois fonctions que la technique conduit \u00e0 dissocier : l&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 au liquide et \u00e0 la vapeur, l&rsquo;isolation thermique et la r\u00e9sistance structurelle. C&rsquo;est la mani\u00e8re de distribuer ces fonctions entre les composants qui distingue les grandes familles d&rsquo;architecture \u2014 nous y revenons plus loin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fond\u00e9e en 1935, Entrepose Contracting s&rsquo;appuie sur pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;un si\u00e8cle d&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience et une centaine de projets pour mener des r\u00e9alisations cryog\u00e9niques complexes. Cette expertise ne s&rsquo;est pas construite sur des principes, mais sur des contraintes physiques pr\u00e9cises : acier 9 % nickel \u00e0 \u2212163 \u00b0C, b\u00e9ton pr\u00e9contraint sous chargement cryog\u00e9nique, gestion des cycles thermiques<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>2. LA MOLECULE COMMANDE LA CONCEPTION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Il n&rsquo;existe pas de r\u00e9servoir cryog\u00e9nique \u00ab g\u00e9n\u00e9rique \u00bb que l&rsquo;on adapterait \u00e0 la marge. Temp\u00e9rature, pression, densit\u00e9, comportement thermodynamique, risque de boil-off, compatibilit\u00e9 des mat\u00e9riaux, profil de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 : pour chaque mol\u00e9cule, ces param\u00e8tres dessinent une architecture distincte. Supposer qu&rsquo;un savoir-faire se transpose tel quel d&rsquo;un fluide \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre, c&rsquo;est s&rsquo;exposer \u00e0 des erreurs co\u00fbteuses.<br><br><strong>GNL (\u2212162 \u00b0C) : la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence atmosph\u00e9rique<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le gaz naturel liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 reste l&rsquo;application de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence du stockage cryog\u00e9nique de grande capacit\u00e9. \u00c0 \u2212162 \u00b0C et \u00e0 pression quasi atmosph\u00e9rique, il est conserv\u00e9 dans des r\u00e9servoirs associant une cuve interne en acier 9 % nickel \u2014 qui garde sa ductilit\u00e9 aux tr\u00e8s basses temp\u00e9ratures \u2014 et une enceinte externe en b\u00e9ton pr\u00e9contraint. Trois enjeux dominent : la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de confinement, la r\u00e9silience de l&rsquo;ouvrage et la ma\u00eetrise des pertes par \u00e9vaporation, g\u00e9r\u00e9es par reliqu\u00e9faction ou valorisation du boil-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Hydrog\u00e8ne liquide (\u2212253 \u00b0C) : un changement de paradigme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne liquide change la donne. \u00c0 \u2212253 \u00b0C, il est bien plus sensible aux apports thermiques que le GNL : transposer un r\u00e9servoir GNL \u00e0 fond plat n&rsquo;a pas de sens. Les solutions reposent sur des r\u00e9servoirs \u00e0 double paroi isol\u00e9e sous vide \u2014 sph\u00e8res ou cylindres \u2014 dont l&rsquo;isolation extr\u00eame limite le boil-off. Le socle cryog\u00e9nique acquis sur le GNL (m\u00e9thodes de calcul, qualifications de soudage, comportement des mat\u00e9riaux) reste utile, mais il doit \u00eatre r\u00e9-instruit, pas recopi\u00e9. C&rsquo;est l\u00e0 que se joue la diff\u00e9rence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Ammoniac (\u221233 \u00b0C) : la toxicit\u00e9 avant la temp\u00e9rature<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 \u00e0 environ \u221233 \u00b0C \u00e0 pression atmosph\u00e9rique, l&rsquo;ammoniac (NH\u2083) se situe \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re du cryog\u00e9nique. Sa contrainte dimensionnante n&rsquo;est pas le froid, mais la toxicit\u00e9, qui impose un haut niveau de confinement. La question de la conversion revient souvent : un r\u00e9servoir GNL peut, sous conditions, \u00eatre adapt\u00e9 au stockage d&rsquo;ammoniac \u2014 mais cette conversion n&rsquo;est jamais neutre. Pompes immerg\u00e9es, jauges de niveau et de densit\u00e9, soupapes et instrumentation doivent \u00eatre requalifi\u00e9es ou remplac\u00e9es, et la compatibilit\u00e9 des mat\u00e9riaux rev\u00e9rifi\u00e9e. Un projet d&rsquo;ammoniac bas-carbone doit donc trancher t\u00f4t entre conception native et conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>CO\u2082 liquide (CCUS) : le d\u00e9fi du point triple et des impuret\u00e9s<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maillon des cha\u00eenes de captage, transport et stockage du carbone (CCUS), le CO\u2082 liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 ob\u00e9it \u00e0 une physique particuli\u00e8re. Il ne peut \u00eatre liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 qu&rsquo;au-dessus de son point triple (5,18 bar, \u221256,6 \u00b0C) : le stockage s&rsquo;effectue donc sous pression, dans des r\u00e9servoirs proches de cette limite, avec un risque de formation de glace carbonique en cas de chute de pression. Les impuret\u00e9s issues de la source et de la technologie de captage modifient les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s du produit (limites de phase, densit\u00e9) et accroissent les risques de corrosion. En l&rsquo;absence de norme internationale harmonis\u00e9e, l&rsquo;arbitrage entre basse et moyenne pression se conduit projet par projet, selon la composition r\u00e9elle du flux et la cha\u00eene logistique vis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong>CONSEIL D\u2019EXPERT<br>Convertir un r\u00e9servoir GNL en stockage d\u2019ammoniac : ce qu\u2019il faut requalifier<br><\/strong>La compatibilit\u00e9 de l\u2019acier 9 % nickel avec l\u2019ammoniac ne suffit pas \u00e0 valider une conversion. Les \u00e9quipements internes \u2014 pompes, jauges de niveau et de densit\u00e9, soupapes de s\u00fbret\u00e9, instrumentation \u2014 sont dimensionn\u00e9s pour le GNL et doivent \u00eatre revus. La toxicit\u00e9 du NH\u2083 d\u00e9place \u00e9galement l\u2019analyse de risque vers des sc\u00e9narios de dispersion sp\u00e9cifiques. Une conversion non instruite cr\u00e9e un risque pour l\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 et la conformit\u00e9 : elle doit \u00eatre trait\u00e9e comme un projet d\u2019ing\u00e9nierie \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re, et non comme une adaptation mineure.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong>CONSEIL D\u2019EXPERT<br>CO\u2082 liquide : pourquoi les impuret\u00e9s changent la conception<br><\/strong>Contrairement au GNL, dont la composition est relativement stable, le flux de CO\u2082 issu du captage varie selon la source (post-combustion, oxy-combustion, captage direct). Azote, oxyg\u00e8ne, eau, oxydes de soufre et d\u2019azote d\u00e9placent les fronti\u00e8res de phase, augmentent la pression de saturation et favorisent la corrosion acide en pr\u00e9sence d\u2019eau libre. La conception du r\u00e9servoir et le choix des mat\u00e9riaux ne peuvent donc \u00eatre fig\u00e9s qu\u2019une fois la sp\u00e9cification de puret\u00e9 du flux \u00e9tablie \u2014 souvent d\u00e9finie par contrat entre l\u2019\u00e9metteur, le transporteur et l\u2019op\u00e9rateur du site de stockage.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. TROIS ARCHITECTURES DE CONFINEMENT, UN SEUL CRITERE : L&rsquo;INTERET DU PROJET<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contrairement au GNL, dont la composition est relativement stable, le flux de CO\u2082 issu du captage varie selon la source (post-combustion, oxy-combustion, captage direct). Azote, oxyg\u00e8ne, eau, oxydes de soufre et d\u2019azote d\u00e9placent les fronti\u00e8res de phase, augmentent la pression de saturation et favorisent la corrosion acide en pr\u00e9sence d\u2019eau libre. La conception du r\u00e9servoir et le choix des mat\u00e9riaux ne peuvent donc \u00eatre fig\u00e9s qu\u2019une fois la sp\u00e9cification de puret\u00e9 du flux \u00e9tablie \u2014 souvent d\u00e9finie par contrat entre l\u2019\u00e9metteur, le transporteur et l\u2019op\u00e9rateur du site de stockage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Simple confinement (single containment) <\/strong>: une cuve primaire \u00e9tanche au liquide, une enveloppe externe qui prot\u00e8ge l&rsquo;isolation et contient la vapeur, et une cuve de r\u00e9tention en seconde barri\u00e8re. Capex le plus bas, mais emprise fonci\u00e8re \u00e9tendue et exposition accrue aux agressions externes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Double confinement (double containment) <\/strong>: une paroi secondaire proche de la cuve primaire, capable de contenir le liquide en cas de fuite, mais sans ma\u00eetrise contr\u00f4l\u00e9e de la vapeur. Emprise r\u00e9duite par rapport au simple confinement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Confinement int\u00e9gral (full containment) <\/strong>: cuve primaire en acier 9 % nickel et enceinte secondaire \u2014 le plus souvent en b\u00e9ton pr\u00e9contraint \u2014 capables chacune, ind\u00e9pendamment, de contenir le liquide ; l&rsquo;enceinte assure en outre un \u00e9vent contr\u00f4l\u00e9 de la vapeur et r\u00e9siste aux agressions externes. C&rsquo;est le standard des grands terminaux : emprise r\u00e9duite et plus haut niveau de s\u00e9curit\u00e9<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Un r\u00e9servoir cryog\u00e9nique ressemble, de loin, \u00e0 une grande capacit\u00e9 de stockage.
