Description of the Project

In response to the needs for greater safety and more diverse means of energy supply in Europe, EDF launched the construction of a methane terminal at the Port of Dunkirk; the project will also increase liquefied natural gas (LNG) import capacity. Entrepose Contracting in JV with Bouygues Travaux Publics.

Work done and added value of our solution

Three 190,000-m3 cryogenic storage tanks were designed as a turnkey solution. These are among the largest cryogenic tanks in the world. They feature an inner hull in steel (9% nickel) that maintains gas at a temperature of 163°C below zero and an outer hull in prestressed concrete.
